| Why bamboo
Bamboo is the perfect flooring choice because it is durable, beautiful, cost-effective, and environmentally sound.
Bamboo tops the list for stability compared to hardwoods, meaning it doesn’t warp or expand and contract with changes in temperature and moisture as much as timber does.
Today’s heating and cooling systems, when combined with seasonal fluctuations, subject wood floors to quite extreme temperature and humidity changes.
When subjected to these changes, solid wood floors tend to show deficiencies; they can gap between the planks, cup across their width and warp along their length. These effects can usually be seen within one to three years after installation.
With decreases in humidity in the exposed wear surface, the wood floor will suffer from cupping (concave curving) of the boards or planks as the surface layer dries out. Gaps will appear between the planks as each whole plank dries and shrinks.
If the floor has been sanded in an attempt to rectify cupping, the floor will very likely exhibit crowning as equilibrium is restored.
Increases in moisture content may also generate excessive compressive forces around the perimeter of the floor – sufficient in some instances for the floor to lift in the most stressed areas.
Compared to solid wood floors, there is no doubt that the dimensional stability of bamboo flooring provides a superior installation and a long-term, successful flooring solution.
Warranty Ecodure bamboo flooring comes with a 12-year structural warranty and a 5 year wear layer warranty.
